The new year always brings new possibilities and new challenges. Whether you’re looking to be more productive, exercise more, or just make some small changes to your daily routine, there’s always something we can do to better ourselves. 

Check out these five tricks to make quick and easy changes to 2019!


Early to Bed, Early to Rise… 

We’ve all heard the saying and know that there are real benefits to getting your day started early. Studies show that 7-9 hours of sleep is the perfect amount for adults. Running on fewer hours of sleep has proven to affect a person’s performance and weaken their immune systems.

Applying the “Early to Bed, Early to Rise” method points us in the right direction to get these hours of rest!


 


 


Move, Move, Move

As one of the most common New Year’s Resolutions, exercising more is something I think we all wished we had the time or motivation to do.

So, if you’re looking for ways to move more in 2019, here are some easy ways to efficiently get more steps and stretches in while at the office:

  • While you’re catching up on emails, take them on the go by reading through them on your phone or tablet while you walk around the building.
  • Dedicate 10 minutes (or more) of your lunchtime to do yoga or climb stairs.
  • Stand up and move around every hour. Use the hour marker to stretch at your desk or just take a lap.

 


Your Daily Cup

We know, making a change to your cup of happiness in the morning can be one of the hardest things to get used to, but it can be one of the easiest ways to start saying “YES” to healthier choices in 2019!

Coffee is something that someone almost never eliminates when starting a new diet, and it can be a great alternative when you have a strong craving for something sweet. Using plant-based creamers like Nutpods or cutting out creamer altogether are great options for a healthier cup of coffee. Take it black or adding a little Nutpods creamer, cinnamon, or coconut milk.



 


Drink a Glass of Water in the Morning

While you’re waiting for your morning cup of coffee to brew, drink an entire glass of room temperature water. Drinking water in the morning has shown great results in getting the day started right and increasing overall productivity.

Make this a requirement in the morning and reward yourself by following it up with a cup of coffee. You’ll see big results!


The Most Important Meal of the Day…

We all know it adds a few more minutes or a few more calories to your day, BUT don’t skip it. Starting your day with a balanced breakfast really does help with energy levels and suppresses your appetite throughout the day!
